FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

1)  REGISTER: Why do I need to register at all?
Registration will give you access to additional features not available to guest users such as private messaging, emailing to fellow users, browsing profiles, Chat Rooms and IM and much more. It only takes a few minutes to register so we recommended you do so. 

 


2)  MEMBERSHIPS: About Non-Member, Standard and Gold memberships.
a)Non-Members are limited in their use of our site. They cannot make contact with other members in any form, but are allowed to use some features(Search Members, Browse Photos etc.).
b)Standard Members are allowed to contact other members and use all features except Add, Delete or Edit Classifieds.
c) Gold Members has 100% access to our site and all it's features. Gold Members are mainly Employers or anyone wishing to Post Individual/Unlimited Ads to our Classifieds Section.

 


3)  Where is BItterwaiters.com Located?
Bitterwaiters.com U.S based and is operated from New York.

 


4)  UPGRADE: How Can I Upgrade my Membership?
Simply click on "My Account" link to the top of the page and follow payment instructions in Member Info box.

 

5)   LOG IN: Why can't I log in?
Have you registered? You must register in order to log in. Have you been banned from the board? (A message will be displayed if you have.) If so, you should contact the Webmaster or Admin to find out why. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem; if not, contact our support team at support@bitterwaiters.com



 


6)  PROFILE ACTIVATION.
I registered a few hours ago and still can't use all the features. Is there something wrong? Not at all. Profile activation can take anywhere from 6-12 hours for approval. Note that this can also be less than the listed time.

 


7)  PASSWORD: I have lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click Forgot??. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time. 

 

8)  EDIT SETTINGS: How do I change my settings?
All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the My Account and My Profile link (generally shown at the top of page). This will allow you to change all your settings and upgrade your membership. You can click on My Profile to edit your personal information. Click on Customize Profile to add Background Images, change font and much, much more.

 


9)  PHOTOS: I uploaded photos but don't see them.
Photos are approved by Admin. Please allow 6-12 hours for photos to be approved. It can sometimes take less time for approval. Also, if your photos are too large, they will be automatically not be posted. Please view restrictions are try uploading photos again.

 


10)  PHOTOS: Why should I upload Photos?
Simply put, profiles with photos get the most attention. Remember, people are attracted to what they can see, not what they can't see. This is especially so with online dating sites such as this one, so please take our recommendation and to to Control Settings and under Member Options box, click on My Uploads to begin uploading your photos.

 


11)  WEBCAM:I can't see my Webcam/Video image.
On Chat and or Instant Messenger Window, please click on A/V Settings and check the Allow Bitterwaiters.com to access your camera and microphone box. If you still can't see webcam(common with Mac users), click on webcam icon to the bottom right of the A/V settings window and choose the appropriate webcam or video type installed into your computer.

 


12)  Add/Delets Classifieds.
Only Gold Members are allowed to use Add/Delete/Edit Classifieds.

 

13)  E-MAIL: When I click the e-mail link for a user it asks me to log in.
Sorry, but only registered users can send email to people via the built-in email form. This is to prevent malicious use of the email system by anonymous users which increases your safety.

 


14)  SEARCH: Why am I not getting search results?
Did you try all search options? Did you select a State or other specific options in your search? Please use all options and try again.

 


15)  How do I know whose checking me out?.
Under Control Settings in the Member Options box, click on Communicator. There, you will find all members you added to your Hot List and vice-versa, members who have been checking you out and much, much more.

 


16)  Block Members
If a member is annoying you, you can simply Block that member by clicking on their profile and on the left side of the page under Custom Menu, click Block Member and you're done. Don't be afraid to block someone you feel the need to block. It's for your own good and safety. This is supposed to be a pleasant experience, not one you will regret.

 


17)  Are other members real?
This is a question asked time and time again. It helps if you are a Registered member as you can use Chat Rooms w/video and IM Chat w/video to chat face to face with anyone who may have a webcam. You may also check out our Events and Specials link to view any Events we may be having in your area. This is also another way of meeting fellow members face to face.

 


18)  SUSPEND ACCOUNT: How can I sespend my account?
Under My Account, in the Member Info box, you have the option t suspend your account. Please note that this function hides you from other members but does not pro-rate your account.

 


19)  DELETE ACCOUNT: How can I delete my account?
Only Admin can delete your account. You must contact Admin by PHONE in order to have them delete your account. This cannot be reversed once your account is deleted, so please be sure that this is what you want to have done. Also, deleting you account while during an active membership does not allow for a refund(full or partial). All memberships are non-refundable.

 

20)  ADMINISTRATORS: What are Administrators?
Administrators are people assigned the highest level of control over the entire board. These people can control all facets of board operation which include setting permissions, banning users, creating usergroups or moderators, etc. They also have full moderator capabilities in all the forums.

 


21)  MODERATORS: What are Moderators?
Moderators are individuals (or groups of individuals) whose job it is to look after the running of the forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going or posting abusive or offensive material.
